Is this happening during every wash cycle, or only with one specific cycle?

Yes, this seems to happen with every wash regardless of what type of wash cycle we choose. The lid is locked with the lid lock light on.

I will unplug the machine, wait a few minutes, plug it back in and switch to the Rinse and Spin cycle to finish the load.

If you quickly press temperature, soil level, and spin speed in that pattern 3 times, does an error code appear? If not, the main control would be the likely cause of failure. W11400681 Electronic Control Board | Genuine Whirlpool OEM In Stock

Should I try this procedure during a wash cycle when the machine stops operating?

This would be done when the washer is in standby. There would not be any need to put it into a cycle at all.
