Maytag throws unbalanced code but spins fine in Drain and Spin mode

Maytag MVWC565FW2, all balanced, springs seem fine, wobbles a little when it gets to the spin part of the cycle when in Normal mode. Doesn’t even wobble that bad but tries to rebalance 3 times then quits with an F0 E5 code. However, if i set it to Drain & Spin, it will spin just fine. My solution thus far is to run it in Normal and cancel when it gets to the spin cycle, then switch it to Drain & Spin to finish, but this will not work long term (it’s a rental). Any ideas?

How does this machine detect an unbalanced load? I don’t see a detector switch like on other machines. Does it run low speed vs high speed spin in the Normal vs Spin mode? I put it in diagnostic and tested spin (9 turns clockwise i think) and it worked fine. I also tried recalibrating. I should also mention that when I found the machine the plastic linkage from the shift actuator had come loose.

Machine is not very old but I am in a salty marine environment so it could just be the springs. I tried manually holding the tub in place when it starts the spin but it quits very quickly.

While there is a sensor in the shift actuator that would be used to identify if there is an issue with the load, it would not be a likely cause of failure due to the washer properly spinning in the drain and spin mode. Based on the information provided, the most likely cause of failure would be the main control.
