I have a maytag side by side refrigerator model # msd2732grw that just stopped working both frige and freezer. the compressor is very hot to the touch (can only hold hand on top for a few seconds). the fan works fine and there is a clicking noise every so often. Could it be the relay and if so what would the part #? I tried looking this up and it seems there are different relays.

If the compressor is vibrating and the condenser coils warm, you have system problems for a pro to look at.
If not, you can try a new start device. Make a diagram of the wires to it, remove it. If it rattles when shaken, it’s bad. Order here, AP4009660.
This kit has a ptc device for the start function. If your old device is a large box, you will have problems wiring it, just let us know.
