i am unable to pull up this model number but, I believe the valve that turns the gas on needs to be replaced, I just cannot give you a part number for this model.

A few other issues, before it became impossible to turn burner off or on, using plyers, it was really hard to turn and it didnt stop correctly .It took a bit to get it mmm off and then we discovered dit was leaking propane so with cap off, hubby lit the center of burner like a pilot … Before it got worse like this, I had trouble every now and then getting it to light and theflames were very uneven and some were orange instead of blue. I had spilled some liquid that got unxer the cap and i cleaned it with a scrubber.. Hubby said i did something to it ..oopps
Here is the part number for the valve, WPW10279615 Gas Range Burner Valve | Genuine Whirlpool OEM In Stock, I would remove the burner cap, then the burner and clean it real good with hot soap and water, let it dry out overnight and put it back on. It sounds like there is some stuff in the burner holes that are interfering with the gas flow.
