Maytag performa

Got a maytag performa washer and was doing well. now it seems to be out of balance on just about any load. any suggestions. rule out: floor is level. washer is level. im thinking that whatever helps keep the drum spinning correctly has worn out. is there a possible plastic guide or bracket i should be looking for?

Will need your model to help you with this. It sounds like a bad snubber ring. Get us your model and we will gladly look up the part for you.

Pull the front panel. If you see white, plastic shavings on the bottom, you have a badly worn snubber.
Put in the search box in the general talk section, “Maytag Performa washer snubber replacement”. Remember you will not need to buy the special brake release tool, or spring stretcher and no need to remove the pulley.

Thanks for the help ill do that tonight or asap. The model # is pavt234aww.
That makes sense ill defin post what I find.

ok. so no plastic shards laying around the bottom. all springs look good none broken. can they be stretched? meaning pulled a little out thus causing drum to be out of balance. nothing else looks out of place or worn. (model number pavt234aww)

If the washer is resting on all feet, and the springs look “normal”, I would replace the snubber, most likely suspect.

ok. so just to make sure. get a snubber and wasnt sounding real clear on what special tools you recommended or not recommended.

Read my article I suggested , then comment on it. The brake release tool that most recommend cost $50 for a one time use. If you go to the list of articles under that title, you will see one that mentions the tool.
