I have a Maytag washer that has quit working. It is flashing a code of a upside down F & Capitol E. Had A maytag tech look at it but doesn’t want to do anything but be a parts changer. He didn’t look at any controls inside of unit and says that the main board needs to be replaced, but won’t guareentee that that would fix it. I have spoke with maytag explained same and no one there knows what the code means. Can anyone answer my question? It would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the new world of electronic controls. I would go ahead and change out the control unit, but I would buy from this site. If the control unit is not the problem you can return it. See the returns policy.
The board is around $250-$300. There are different boards for different production runs of this model. You will need to call APP with your model and serial number for them to get you the right part.
Alternatively, given the lack of reliability in this model you may want to consider directing the money towards a new machine. If so, I would stay away from any model with an electronic components, for reasons you are all too familiar with.
Hi.
May I suggest first to check the sump thermistor. It’s located at the heater at the bottom of the tub.Using the ohmmeter check the resistance at the thermistor. You should be able to read some. If it’s open or show 0 resistance - replace the thermistor.

Thanks for your help, I believe I found problem. The wires that go to the door interloc switch were not taped up near the very end and one of the wires was cut threw at the body and shorted out. There are burnt marks where this happened. I took pictures and am trying to get Maytag to send me one at no charge.

Good luck, Mike. Keep us posted.
