I have a Maytag Neptune FAV6800AWW washing machine that is having trouble on the spin cycle. I followed the directions given by dh1200 but am stuck trying to get the pully bolt off . So far I have the front panel off, the motor bolt removed, removed the drive belt, and took the clutch pulley assembly. When I put it all back together I’m getting a loud click noise and am not sure what to do. I took everything off again, and realized the tension spring was bent inside. Any suggestions on how to get this spring back in or should I just buy a new one?
I would like to fix this myself if possible.
You could throw in a new clutch pulley I recommend you google this p/n 25001169 see if you can find it for less than $80.00. The $130 to $150 range is out in left field.
This would more than likley get you back in service but the root cause of the issue is a leaky tub seal. Search dh1200s in this forum for my post.
This one is for clutch maintenance your Clutch Pully is past that and replacement is necessary; Maytag Neptune load unbalance If you read thru this post you will understand how the Clutch Pulley works witht the One-Way roller clutches used in this machine.
The perm fix is an Outer Tub rebuild; FAV6800A/FAV9800A Outer Tub bearing replacement
Pic below is what your Clutch Pulley looks like with the mangled Stainless Steel large wrap spring is that correct?
Does your FAV6800A series use the upper bearing ring? see exploded Clutch Pulley pic.
