Gas Dryer igniter goes on, then after 5 mins shuts off. The igniter gets red, calls for heat and then flames up.
After 5 mins, flame stops. After 3 more mins, the igniter gets red again but no flaming. Igniter is red for only about 15 secs only. Does same thing a minute later.
Unit runs fine but without any heat.
At first, I though it was the coil valve solenoids that need replacing, then a guy in parts store said it could be one of the 2 thermostats. Tried making connection touching both terminals on thermostat part #306910 to see if I could get flame to go on bypassing thermostat but it did not work.
Does that mean it is that thermostat or is it coil valve solenoid(s)279834 or even the 4 prong thermostat #303395
House full of guests this July 4th and need dryer. Need Help
The cause of the problem you described has nothing to do with any thermostats. It can be a bad gas valve coils (most likely) or a bad gas valve itself (very rare).

You may want to start the troubleshooting from checking the thermal fuse (#10 on the diagram) for continuity.

We found this thread and ordered the part; it solved our problem for $15. Last repair on this dryer (which was not the first) cost almost $300 for similar issue. THANKS SO MUCH!
