Maytag Neptune Electric Dryer Model mde3000ayw purchased in 1999.
Worked fine in the morning, but in the afternoon but it would not start.
- It has power.
- The door switch works.
- I suspected the push-to-start switch, so I opened up the rear top panel and got my voltage tester out and I have 120V to the red wires on one side of the switch.
- I disconnected the switch and put my continuity tester on each contact. I have continuity between the two contacts when I hold the button down, but no continuity when I release the button.
- I reconnected the switch and jumpered the two red wires that connect to contact #1 to the yellow wire that connect to contact #2. Still won’t start.
Is that normal behavior?
Are there any other tests I can try?
Could it be the Drive Motor?
