Gentlemen
I actually have 2 Maytag stacked combo units with the same problem. They were bought together in 2002 when we remodeled our home and happen to have different motors and motor control boards (one could have been replaced under warrenty).
Unit 1
SN 46866024ZY
Upper Control Board 62718050 - R11 AND Q6 look perfect, the whole board looks good.
Motor Conrol 62722460 this has the motor wires soldered to the board. The fuse tests good.
Wax Motor is the black tipped version, I found the spin enable microswitch would not close electrically and have replaced it. I also checked the three out of balance switches individually and all tested good.
The washer starts normally and runs fine, the red on light and door locked lights come on. When the timer advances to the rinse cycle the machine adds water the drum rotates 5 turns each way a number of times, the pump expels water but the machine never enters a spin. When the cycle is over the interior dry (water is pumped out) but no high speed spin has occured. I have tested continuity from P4 at the motor control to the P4 on the upper circut and all three wire show 0 ohms. Where do i go from here?
Unit 2
SN 46865923ZY
Motor Board 62724610
Upper Control Board 62718050 - R11 and Q6 look perfect, the whole board looks good.
Wax motor has the black tip, the red on light and door locked lights come on.
This machine quit entering the spin mode 4 or 5 years ago, it was never a issue until the other machine broke. This machine is doing the same thing as the other machine, everything seems to run fine until it is time for the machine to enter the spin cycle and it never speeds up, as a matter of fact both machines have the rotating wheel not moving at all for portions of the rinse/spin cycle. The P4 continunity test from the motor board to the upper board is also at 0 ohms. What’s next?
