Maytag MVWC565FW1 Stuck on Wash

The washer (Maytag MVWC565FW1) started and then the wash light started blinking and everything stopped. I can put it in diagnostic mode but the tech sheet from inside is missing so I can’t read the codes. The lid lock switch keeps activating but doesn’t seem to work. I replaced the lid lock switch several years ago.

Does anyone have a PDF of the tech sheet with the diag codes? And does anyone have any suggestions about where to begin?

Thanks.

What was the LED pattern when the machine was entered into the error retrieval mode?

Here is what I come up with after the 3CW, 1 CCW, 1 CW to go into diag mode. Each turn brings a different light sequence/code. This is in order. The sensing light is never on. (Hopefully the formatting works).

Sens Wash Rinse Spin Done
x
x
x x
x
x x
x x
x
x x
x x
x x

Then it starts over.

Here’s the process I used: 3 CW, 1 CCW, 1 CW then 1 CW to enter diag mode (all flashing). Then press Start.

One more CW turn shows F2 E1 (sens and spin; done)
One more CW turn shows F5 E2 (sens and rinse+done; spin

I presume those are two different errors.

They are going to be stuck key for the F2E1 and lid lock fault for the F5E2. However, it is possible that it might be the same part causing both failures. The stuck key is a main control failure. If you start a wash cycle and unplug the power cord as soon as the lid lock locks (washer should be empty in case the main control completely fails out), the lid lock can be tested using the wires found at the main control connection J6. There should be continuity from the wire at pin 2 to the wire at pin 3 if the lid lock is good. Once the test is complete, the wires can be plugged back in, power cord plugged back in, and the washer put into a cycle (then canceled after a few seconds) to get the lid lock to unlock. If the lid lock tests good, then just the main control would need to be replaced. W11162438 Control Board | Genuine Whirlpool OEM In Stock

I was going to do the test you suggested so I started it and it went through the initial filling and agitation. Then I hear the lid trying to lock but it doesn’t lock. When I ran the diagnostics again, it shows F5 E1 which I found as a lid switch fault (??). It doesn’t show any other errors.

Does that make any sense? Should I replace the lid lock switch first and see what happens?

If you push down on the lid where the strike enters into the lid lock and try it again, but the lid does not lock, the failure would likely be the lid lock. W11307244 Lid Lock Assembly | Genuine Whirlpool OEM In Stock

I replaced the lid lock switch and still got the problem (fill/agitate/fill/agitate then flashing wash light) and the same error (F5E2 … the other has gone away). When I set it to drain and spin, you can here the lid lock switch activating but it doesn’t lock. It just keeps clicking. I can reach under and mantually trigger the latch switch and it will hold for a moment and then release again.

Is it possible I have a bad switch? Or should I be looking at something else?

Thanks again for your help.

It is possible that the strike is not aligning or seating into the lock properly. What does it do if you press down on the lid (where the lock would be) while a cycle is started?

I tried holding the lid down and that didn’t work so I picked another new switch and striker today and it now works (at least so far through one load). I appreciate your help very much.
