The unit shut off and there was this smell of burning rubber. After a period of time the unit came back on but the time had to be reset. Later when, I tried to use it, it did the same thing. Is there a belt that drives the turntable or is it time to get another?

No belt on the turntable. You could try and open it up and look around to see what was burning.
