The Maytag tag line must have gotten retired, our stuff is failing us (Oh, well)
Our faithful range has done great things for us since being married and it finally won’t light the oven-- even for daddy-o.
Model# MGR5780BDW
The pucks on the range light, the broiler broils, but the oven will not start.
The igniter gets bright orange and will remain as such without triggering the valve to loose the hounds er, the gas.
A forum post suggested an ammeter test, but I’ve only the probe-style and not the wrap-around variety.
Set oven to 350 with unit plugged into outlet, tested across poles on bi-metal valve terminals and got a reading in the .01–.03 range. Likely the reading and information I gave is amusing at best (I did a no-no?).
Should I jump for the new ammeter THEN retest the igniter?
Maybe go hog wild and buy an igniter?
Or (WAHOO!) pitch the thing and get a non-Maytag range?
Your input is essential, ladies and gentlemen.
God bless you,
Poppa Squirrel
