Brand: Maytag
Model Number: HDG308
Main Symptom: won’t turn on
What happens & when:
I replaced the original motor in the dryer to a new replacement motor W10410999 as the old one the bearings were wore out.
I followed the directions that was emailed to me on where the wires go for the new motor. This is what I figured out below. But once I did that and went to test. It didn’t turn on, I know it did before motor was changed, I also did change the push start switch ( lid switch )as the original one failed. Any help on where the wires should be landed on new motor or if there is something else im missing, let me know, thank you. I attached the dryer schematic along with the designations for new motor directions.
Yellow, terminal 6
Blue/white- terminal 1
Red with black stripe- terminal 5
Black- terminal 2
Where do you have the Grey wire connected? Can you attach a picture of how you’ve currently got it wired up?
No gray wire on my dryer, dont see one on the schematic either. Here’s a Pic of the wires currently, I can get more later today if needed.
What color wires do you have going to the motor? These wire up a bit differently than the unit that instruction sheet is for. Can you take a picture of the top of that switch? There are supposed to be 5 connectors going to the motor.
White wire with blue jumper connected to it
Yellow/green
Red/black
Black
No gray wires, or black with brown
I didnt connect the blue wire thats connected to the white cause I wasn’t sure where it needed to be landed. I can get you original maytag motor oart number too if that helps at all
You’re going to need to remove the blue jumper wire that came on the motor that goes from the thermal protector tab to #4. Place the white and blue on th thermal protector tab and the other end of the blue on 1. From the diagram that White/Blu appears to be your L1 main power in.
That did the trick! Thank you very much
