INSIDE THE FRIDGE AT THE TOP ARE DIG NUMBERS TO CONTROL TO ADJUST THE TEMP. IT SEEMS LIKE THE FREZZER WORKS BUT WHEN I ADJUST THE SET FOR THE FRIDGE IT CLICKS FOR A LITTLE WHILE THEN STOPS. ITS NOT COLD AT ALL. IM A SINGLE MOTHER OF 4 WITH NO FAMILY TO HELP. IM THANKFUL FOR ANYONES HELP!!!
Check if there is a frost built up on the back wall in the freezer.
Measure the temperature in the freezer.
Check if the fan inside the freezer is running.
Check if the cold air coming out of vents inside the fresh food compartment.
Post your findings.
Gene.
hello!
I checked and there is no frost build up.
The temp in the freezer seems fine. EVERYTHING IS STILL FROZEN AND EVEN ICE IS BEING MADE. ( SORRY I DONT HAVE ANYTHING TO CHECK THE EXACT TEMP)
No air moving in the fridge.
There IS air moving in the freezer.
THANKS!!
Most likely the problem is a bad damper control (#13 on the break down diagram).
- The part number for the damper control is AP3681859
Per Maytag the harness must be replaced together with the damper control.
- The part number for the harness is AP3832037
Gene.
what does the damper control do?
does it make the fridge cold??
The damper control operates with the air flow from the freezer (where the cooling coils located) into the fresh food compartment.
Gene.
o! i see!!!
well i know its hard to say exactly what it is, i do thank you for all your help n trying to help me find my problem.
i dont have alot of money and im trying not to have to try alot of different parts.
inside the fridge on the top are 2 digital controls.. one for the freezer and one for the fridge. when i turn down the fridge control and them turn it back up, it pops( in the inside all the way in the back of the fridge) 4 a bit them stops. it seems like its tryin to turn on,but dont. there is absolutly no cold air or movement in the fridge. and the freezer is fine.
do you still think its the damper control? if so thats the part i will order!
its it hard 2 change? ive learned to be somewhat handy since my husband passed away( changing flat tire, changing broken sink fasit, etc).
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND PATIENCE!!!
I hope you understand that I can not guarantee such diagnosis but most likely the problem is there.
Take a look at the break down diagram I’ve mentioned earlier to locate the part and the way how to get there.
Good luck.
Gene.
i understand completely! i tried veiwing the diagram and its very blurry. would you happened to have another?
Try to zoom in the picture.
Gene.
your rite the zoom worked. now time 2 order the part. its in the location of the popping noise! so well c!! ill keep u up dated. thanks!!!
Is The Part Easy To Change?
We had similar problem several months ago. There is little fan with motor in the freezer compartment. you have to remove the racks to access the wall and see if the fan is not moving you have to replace it. if it’s moving check to see if the panel for the wall is pressing on it. It happened to us, we bought new part and replaced and still didn’t work. it was the panel pressing on the fan. and hope your problem stops there. if fan is not blowing, no cold air goes to the other side.
Hope this helps you. now we have another problem that i have to find someone to help me.
Such a terrible product, so many problems in the past, never buy maytag again, even the dishwaher is bad, only last me three years
Hi Gene,
I Ordered The Parts That U Suggested And I Channged Them. It Didnt Solve The Problem. Any More Ideas?
In The Bottom Part Where The Freezer Is, I Noticed In The Ice Bucket Where The Automatic Icemaker Is The Ices Looks Like It Was Melted And Refroze.
???
AIR IS MOVING ARUND DOWN IN THE FREEZER, BUT ““NOT AT ALL”” IN THE TOP WHERE THE FRIDGE IS!!
sorry for all the caps! im not yelling! =+)

I need you to measure the temperature in the freezer. You can use any kind of refrigerator thermometer from a hardware store or you can order this one: AP3549145
Make sure the fan in the freezer is working and there is no frost on the back wall.

25 degrees f
in the freezer
were the ice maker is…ice is being made, melted the refrozen
If there is no frost on the back panel in the freezer and the fan is working, then probably the cooling system is low on Freon. Such problem has to be fixed by a certified tech. If your fridge is less than five years old - it should be under the manufacturer warranty.
