The recall includes certain Maytag®, Magic Chef®, Performa by Maytag® and Crosley® brand side-by-side and top freezer refrigerators. The affected refrigerators were manufactured in black, bisque, white and stainless steel. They have model and serial numbers printed on a label located on the top middle or left upper side of the refrigerator line.
Well, most of us here have already remedied the problems associated with the relay. I replaced the newly redesigned 2-pc relay kit (over the old one-piece) right away last August when my fridge was “clicking” left and right trying to kick-start the compressor.
A year later after the repair and to this day, the thing has been running fine. So do we still have to contact Maytag for repair?
Gene,
I just ordered a MT model refrigerator by Maytag (MTF2142EEW) and am concerned that it could have problems even though it was not made between 2001 and 2004 as the recall states.
Could I have anything to worry about?? Should I cancel the delivery before it arrives to be on the safe side?
How are Maytag refrigerators compared to GE or others?
With such poor quality on everything today it does not make very big difference. Purchase of a new appliance today is like a gambling and result is really unpredictable. I would check the manufacturer warranty and, if it’s priced reasonably, you can by an extended warranty.
