Maytag electric dryer takes 2 or 3 cycles to dry

My maytag dryer is only 2 years old. My wife keeps telling me the clothes have to be dried twice to get dry. When I go and check them the dryer will be hot and clothes done, usually the second time around. The first time drying it doesnt seem that they get hot. I have cleaned out the lent and the hose. I have even taken off the hose and let it blow in the room. The one time I checked how hot the air was coming out it wasn’t even hot. I don’t see how it is the heating element cause it does get hot, not just everytime. Can you give me some help. Thanks Mike

Flex exhaust hose? Get one of those pocket cooking thermometers and insert it into the hose so that you can watch it. Set the timer on 15 or more minutes and watch how the temperature fluctuates. It should reach a certain temperature (155 to 180), then you should hear a faint click (which will be the cycling thermostat opening). then the temperature should begin a decline (to 110 - 130). Then the cycle should repeat. If you don’t see a fairly consistent pattern, the thermostat(s) should be replaced.
