Brand: Maytag Model Number: LD#482 (SN: 221657 BB) Main Symptom: Dryer seems to operate fine, but NO HEAT under any cycle. What happens & when: The dryer will turn on and spin like normal on any cycle type but no heat is coming through on any setting.
Error Code (if any): Not digital, no codes
Parts or tests already tried: I’ve replaced the Thermal Fuse WP306604, High Limit Thermostat WP303396, and Cycling Thermostat WPY304475
Photos / video link: None
I also visually inspected the heating element and don’t outright see any breaks or discernible damage to the coil. I don’t see any other parts in that circuit on the documentation so I’m wondering if it’s possible that has failed, or if there’s something about the ‘Dryer Timer Electromechanical Control’ (WP305448) that would not be sending signal to the heater to turn on? I’m also not sure what other parts in the system could have failed leading to this no heat issue.
I’m currently hang drying laundry, got kids clothes hanging all over the house, need dryer help ASAP! Thank you!
The best option for this would be to test to see if there is 240 Vac to the heater. If there is power to the heater but not coming on then this would be a faulty heater. If not then check to make sure that there is 120 vac coming off the timer to the heating element. If there is power then the centrifugal switch in the motor would be the issue and the motor would need replaced.
Thank you for the directive! I’ll look to check on these asap. Are you able to direct me to any documentation that would be helpful in identifying which terminals on which components to check?
I do NOT have 240 vac to the heater — I have 120 vac which is coming off the high limit thermostat through a thick white wire which appears to connect directly to the heating element. The heating element appears not to come on (no signs of heat)
When testing the (NEW) timer switch, I have 120 vac at a few terminals — presumably one of those goes to the motor?
Does this mean my motor should be replaced? Or both motor and heater?
