Maytag dishwasher wont start

Maytag Dishwasher Wont Start , Lights Only Work On Right Side Of Control Panel

Your profile shows you also had a problem with this unit back in 09.

How did you fix that as it sounds similar?

REPLACED CONTROL PANEL, could see bad conductors in ribbon wire , this is different machine, wires look good ,just out of warranty. control panel or board? thanks

I cannot find this unit at AppliancePartsPros.
They probably have the parts but the unit is not on the customer inquiry system yet.

See the attachment for the tech sheet.
I am having problems trying to upload so will try later.
You may have it or it may be taped under the unit or to the back of the kick plate.

I cannot say which device is the problem.
Look at the tech sheet and check for common tracks/lines for the keys that do not work.
May be dirty contacts so my reply to your old unit post may apply.

The normal way to troubleshoot this is to check the keypad outputs with a meter. Then if it checks out OK replace the control board. Still a bit of a crap shoot but your odds are better.

If you do not own a meter, I would suggest you purchase a one. You can get a decent digital multimeter for under $20.00. You do not need fancy though it is nice if the leads are a couple feet long.
If it saves ordering one unnecessary part it has paid for itself and you end up owning a useful tool.
Most places will not let you return electrical parts so if you order it, you own it.
A couple things to watch when measuring ohms and continuity

  1. Always remove power from the machine otherwise you could blow your meter.
  2. Always disconnect at least one side of any device you are checking. This eliminates the possibility of measuring an alternate/parallel circuit path.
  3. When checking for closed contacts and continuity use the lowest scale (Usually 200 ohms). Then try higher scales. This scale is 0 to 200 ohms so if the device you are measuring is 300 ohms this scale would show an open circuit which it is not, you are just measuring outside the scale’s dynamic range.
  4. When you start always short the meter leads together. This will tell you that the meter is working and if there is any 0 offset.

There is a good STICKY at the start of this forum about it’s use.

Still cannot upload the tech sheet but I will keep trying.

Still cannot upload it so will try a different way.
Here is a link to it.

I have a maytag dishwasher model#mdbt609awb2 when I try to start it I can enter the wash cycle and the lights on the diplay come on but when I try to enter start it will not let me, the light for start does’t even come on. Then after about 15 seconds all the lights go off. Help.

denman has download on this page for tech sheets and trouble shooting guide . check wire from control panel to board for bad conductors, wiring ribbon is part of control panel,

My Maytag MDB9600AWW dishwasher won’t start either. The lights come on for the options and the 2hr on the front. But neither the start or delay buttons depress or work. I opened the control board and nothing looked fried.

I put in a new handle and switch and it still doesn’t work. Could I have put the wires back on incorrectly? They fit on both ways, I went with where the wires naturally laid. I found a picture with the black wires on the left (if facing the dishwasher). How do I know if these are correct?

You may want to start your own post using “Post New Topic”.

Having different models in one post even if their symptoms are the same just confuses things.

As far as the door switches, they look like a 2 connector switch so it does not matter which wire goes where.
As long as you do not mix left and right switch wires.
