We recently converted this portable dishwasher into an inset dishwasher with the conversion kit provided by Maytag (or whoever owns them now).
Since the conversion, the dishwasher is not working correctly. Here are a few of the problems I have noticed:
- The dishwasher goes through the cyles too fast. It seems like it used to take much longer to go through the wash cycles, Now I can sit and watch as it completes an entire cycle in just a few minutes.
- After completing all of the cycles, the dishwasher hangs right before the rinse cycle and the “Water Heating” light stays lit; this is where it will stay unless stopped. The other night, after the conversion, we started our first load of dishes and headed for bed. When I awoke the next morning, the dishwasher motor was still running, the “water heating” light was lit and the dial was stuck right before the rinse cycle. After opening the dishwasher, I noticed that it did not clean the dishes very well, it was very hot in the dishwasher and many of my plastic dishes had been damaged by the heating elements.
This dishwasher worked fine before the conversion. I don’t think it is a problem with the temperature of my water, because I used to use cold water and let the dishwasher heat the water itself. I know that water is spraying, because I can open the dishwasher while it is in a wash cycle and water will spray out. It may not be spraying hard enough though… I just don’t know. I should mention that we just moved into a new house and that’s when we decided to convert the dishwasher.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated. I don’t know much about dishwashers, but I’m willing to try anything.
Thanks in advance!
