Maytag clutch problem

How can I unscrew the bolt to remove the clutch. one said to take a large screwdriver and jam the belt, but I don’t understand how. There must be a simpler why to do this. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

i have never really had an issue with this, but i usually use a crescent wrench and grip the as it goes to the motor and after the motor. i then try to make the 2 sections of belt touch. that keeps the clutch from being able to move. i have never used anything but a short 1/4 socket wrench to remove. perhaps tapping the wrench with a hammer will coax it out. this is standard thread, not to be confuse with the basket drive shaft which is counter thread.

it took me forever to get the bolt out using just my hands holding the clutch as I unscrewed the bolt. But now that I replace it with the new clutch, I’m having a hard time screwing in the bolt using a torque wrench as instructed. (96 in lbs.). I can’t picture what you explained using crescent wrench. I wished there was a photo of this. But I do thank you for helping me.
