What happens & when:following program instructions and when I push start button screen goes black and can’t do anything

With the unit not allowing you to program the board, it sounds like a there could be a communication issue. Double check all connections to make sure that there are no loose or damaged wires. If this is not the case then you may have received a faulty board.
