Magic Chef drier not getting power, won't start

This thing has worked fine for about 15 years, but one day it gave out a burning smell and stopped working. I checked the Hi-limit thermostat and am getting .7 with digital mulitmeter set on 200 ohms, I can’t get a reading on the termal fuse (had meter set of 200 ohms) I also connected the wires going to the fuse and no change. The timer clicks when the unit is plugged into the wall, the light inside the drum no longer works. The heating element does not heat and, of course, the drum does not spin. The door switch clicks one depressed as well…

Anything else I can check?

Well, I jumpered the thermal fuse and it clicked on! I guess I’ll get another one and go from there… Any reason this would blow?

A clogged dryer vent can cause the dryer to overheat and blow the thermal fuse. It has to be cleaned at least every other year for better dryer performance and to prevent possible fire.

Also the manufacturer included in the thermal fuse kit a new hi-limit thermostat which has to be replaced at the same time.
