Magic Chef Double Oven Upper oven not working

I can’t read a thing off the label. It’s just a solid silver metal label.
It’s a Magic Chef electric wall double oven.
It is 24 inches wide and 48 inches tall approx on the height.

It’s installed in the wall of course. Is there some where else I can retrieve the model number on this oven?

=====================================================

I need to find replacement parts for this double oven. This is for a rental property.I am not at the rental property. So I don’t have access to the oven.

The upper oven is not working. The lights are not turning on … on the control panel/dashboard.
No heat in the upper oven comes on. Only the lower oven came on before we took it apart.
We do not have electricity at this property right now.

I don’t know if this is needed or if it is the correct part for this oven that I don’t have a model number for.

I’m all ears. Thank you for your time and help.

Based on the information you posted looks like:

  • The part number for the upper oven thermostat is AP4101800

  • The part number for the selector switch is AP4101316

  • The part number for the Broil element is AP4283351

  • The part number for the Bake element is AP4283357

Perfect! Many thanks Gene for your through answer to my post.
What is my model number do you know?

I can not tell you exact model number of your oven, but I found a few very similar. One of them is 9844XPB.

Hi Gene : This Is Debora And You Mentions The Selector Switch Would Be Bad On My Double Over For Magic Chef And I Got A New One And When I Hooked It Up The Fan Went Out And The Ovens Wont Turn On Without Fan , Could It Be Any Other Thing Besides The Fan? I Do Know That When Ovens Are On The Fan Stays On At All Time Until I Turn Oven Off! Been That Way For 15 Years! THE FAN WORKED THE MINUTE I TURNED IT ONE BUT SUDDENLY WENT OUT! THANKS AGAIN GENE

Hi Debora,

Remove the oven from the cabinet and check for 240 VAC to the oven at the junction box behind the oven. Check all wires from the oven terminal block into the oven.

Gene.

i changed every electric part in my oven and i found out the oven isnt getting 220 but the clock works so it only getting 110 what could this be , the breaker doesnt trip however ! please help me : debora g

ha gene , could you please tell me what the wiring schematic is for the magic chef 9522? i took the back of the oven apart and repaired any wire that was a possible short! is it possible the thermo block is bad? i did a volt check and on one side it didnt read and on the other i got a reading and spark because i must have touched wrong wire while taking it out! thanks gene, debora g

Hi Debora,

It can be a bad circuit breaker or a broken wires. It’s impossible to visually diagnose circuit breaker. It has to checked for continuity. If you do not feel comfortable to work under power then it maybe better to call a certified electrician.

Gene.

i was wondering if i put one wire on wrong maybe ! the oven is hard wired , no plug so should i still check there ? how possible is it that the breaker on one side is bad even though it doesnt trip outwardly?

Well, can you describe in details how did you check the voltage to the oven please?

Gene.

i turn all power off when i repair any wire so to make sure i dont get shocked : thanks gene for your quick response : i tried to get on 4 weeks ago when you responded to my first post but couldnt sign in ! thank god i got you tonite!

i paid a repair man 35 to come tell me that and he didnt even check anything but said if the light goes on and the other side doesnt and all parts replaced he said i was only getting 110: I asked him how that was possible and he said because the clock works alone : he said i had a short or wire lose : debora

he showed me how to check for voltage but the thermo block and thats where i found the right side of the block didnt read but the left did!

This is definitely not a real diagnosis. Sorry to hear it.

On the other side it is very possible that the problem is outside the oven. Try to switch both breakers (it must be two single breakers or one double breaker for the oven) on and off. You have to feel some tension while turning the breakers on. Then give the oven a try.

Gene.

Im sure it was the selector switch when you told me but i put the thermostat in the wrong hole where the wires come in and it did short out the oven because it went on for a second, went out and has not went on since! I corrected that problem and check every wire for a short as well : should i just replace the 220 because i dont want to check it while it has power in it ? then that should determine if it is somewhere else?

Its possible i put one of the wires on wrong to one of the thermostats but i doubt it: could you tell me how the wire by color code go ? my oven is a 9522XUB : i know i got the selector switch wires right and the lower thermostat but maybe the upper one is on wrong : it only has 2 prongs on it : should i reverse them and try it ? is it even possible that that would be why i am not getting 220?

ha gene i replaced the breaker and it wasnt that but when i took the hard wire plug in area apart the red wire was melted to the screw nut and i re did it and bingo it went on! thanks : i know now it shorted out at the hard wire area when the thermostat touched the wire to the element! debora

You are welcome Debora. I’m glad to hear you were able to fix it. I was sure there is something wrong with the incoming power and you found it. Good job!

Happy New year!
