Brand: LG Model Number: lrmds3006d Main Symptom: ice maker won’t automatically make ice What happens & when: ice make will cycle successfully and dispense ice when manually pushing the cycle button on inside of door, water will fill tray and new ice will be made, but cycle will not run automatically

I believe the SS error code indicates a problem with the “pantry door sensor” circuit, but not entirely sure what sensor that is or what part I would need to replace. Seems like it might be the thermistor but not certain. Happy to try an additional troubleshooting if anyone has any suggestions. Worth noting the craft ice maker stopped making ice years ago but I didn’t care so much about that and never bothered to try fixing it.
It sounds like you have 2 different problems. The icemaker only cycling with the button being pressed would be caused by a faulty icemaker that would need to be replaced. The sensor issue would be independent of itself and would need to replace the pantry sensor.
Would the entire ice maker need to be replaced or is there a more specific sensor/control board/etc. that I should target? And other tests I can perform to help try and narrow it down?
For the SS error, there doesn’t appear to be any other issues with the fridge or freezer. All temps appear to be within range and performing as expected. That being said, would still like to resolve the issue if I can but not sure what sensor that would be specifically.
Replaced the ice maker assembly with a new unit, issue is still present. It will successfully cycle, drop ice. Feed water into bin, eventually make new ice, but won’t cycle on its own.
Any idea what sensor I would you need to replace on this unit from r the SS error code?
