Looking for new front loader washer (easier to repair)

Looking for a front loader washing machine that will go into a closet. The dryer will be stacked on top, the two will replace a GE laundry center (unitized unit).

Looking for models that are serviceable from the front of the machine - for the most part. The closet door has to come off for the machine to be brought out of the closet and dragging it across a floor.

Also looking for machines that have a decent service reputation. Currently looking at Whirlpool, Frigidaire, and Speed Queen stacked units. I have heard horror stories on the GE models. The Samsung and LG (Korean) sound very reliable until they break, then you wait forever on parts.

Any installation tips for this closet install? Plastic water pan under it help move it?

Thanks

I know you said you wanted a front loader but I think the top loading Whirlpool product with a mechancial control will come closest to meeting your needs. I have a strong bias against front loading machines and machines with microprocessor controls, for reasons that I think you will learn if you do go with one. Others may well have a different opinion, however.

As for the installation, make sure you have the clearances that are called for in the installation guide. If you follow the directions on operations and do not overload the machine you should have many years of good service without needing a repair.

Good Luck and have a Happy Holiday Season.

I agree that a whirlpool top load washer would be best. in my opinion whirlpool (Kenmore, roper - all 3 of these have the same build) is the easiest to fix. machines with microprocessor controls are costly to fix and can break down just from a power surge. if the closet is not big enough to have the washer and dryer side by side then you could always go with a stack washer dryer but i’ve always had a much harder time repairing those just because they are heavier and harder to move around
