Lifting Stovetop to replace ignitor

I have a Hotpoint RGB745GES1 that works fine except that one burner doesn’t ignite; the other three do. I suspect its the ignitor, but I want to take a look at what’s under to stovetop to see if there is something else of concern before ordering parts. But I can’t figure out how to lift the stovetop. Where would I find this information?

You gotta start by disconnecting the burner assemblies from the stove top. Otherwise, you’ll kink the gas lines to them, or possibly break them. Once all the burners are free, just lift the front of the stove top.

Two torus screws per burner? Is there a drawing or sketch somewhere that shows the orientation of the gas line? (Kinking the gas line is one of my first concerns, which is why I ask before trying.)

I couldn’t find a breakdown drawing; but if you remove the screws that hold the burners to the stovetop, you should be able to lift it. The screws are
T15 or T20 Torx.

I go the torox screws off (there were 3, not 2) and lifted the round thingies. The round thingies sat on the gas pipe and had a wire attached to it.

(For those reading this, have a plan for preventing the screws from falling into the just opened hole such as taking the screws completely off the stovetop and store them away from the stovetop before making any movement on the round thingy to loosen it. And before bringing the screw back to to stove, make sure there are no holes they could fall into. That misfortune didn’t happen to me, but I can see it readily happenning to someone else.)

I still couldn’t lift the stove top, but that may not be needed. I did note the electrode on the burners that lights up intermittantly seem more corroded than those that light up all the time, but the wire leading up to it appears to still be new. It also makes sense, those burners have more exposure to accidental spills than the ones that consistently work, so that is probably the cause. So the obvious question now is: How do I repair or replace those electrodes, and can it be done without opening up the hood?

I took some photos before reassembling, in case they may be needed.
