Lid switch for kenmore washing machine

the lid switch on my washer has broken and fallen out…I foolishly stuck my hand in there and promptly received a shock…I know, unplug it..lol…anyway, how do I replace it? I’m a 53 yr old woman…can I do it myself? Thanks for all your imput and help.

First you need to raise the top, kind of like a car hood. Then you can access the lid switch. If you don’t have kids around that switch can be bypassed.
