LG won't top filling with cold water

I have a LG WM0642HW front load washer that behaves as follows:

  • Runs a normal wash cycle, everything appears to works fine
  • Alarm that cycle is done goes, control panel turns off and unlocks the front door. Again everything appears normal.
  • Then cold water start filling the drum and will not stop.[/LIST]I turned off the cold water supply and then powered the washer back on and had it run a rinse/spin cycle. It seemed to run fine and pumped the water out. The washer does not behave this way at every use. It has done this twice in the last 4-5 loads though. Is this likely the cold water inlet assembly problem or perhaps the circuitry that controls the valve?

It could be either one or the control unit, but I would start by replacing the valve assembly and see if that fixes it.
