LG WM9000HVA Won't Drain

Brand:LG
**Model Number:**WM9000HVA
**Main Symptom:**Won’t Drain
What happens & when:

Error Code (if any): 0E
Parts or tests already tried:
It has stopped draining fully. The black cleanout drain hose beside the filter drained a little but stopped. I unscrewed the filter and all of the water drained out but the filter is empty. I checked the grey drain line, and it is fine. I powered off and left off for 5 min. I used a shop vac to try and suck and then blow anything out of the little black drain line and did the same thru the filter port. I then ran the spin/rise/drain cycle and same issue. I have researched the error code and symptoms and followed the testing recommended. The only thing I did not see mentioned in any of the posts was the combination of not draining, no water thru the cleanout hose, but water thru the filter port.

I disassembled using the YouTube video Why Your LG Washer Won’t Drain Or Spin And Throws The OE Code | Quick Drain Pump Fix | WM9000HVA to remove the top, front, and drain pump.

I also removed the cleanout drain hose and it was stopped up so I cleaned it out. I did not see any obstructions in any of the other hoses that I disconnected from the pump. I also blew air through the grey drain hose, and it went ok. My assumption at this point is that the drain pump is bad, but I have 2 questions:

  1. Is my assumption valid or could there be something else I am missing? Somewhere else there could be a clog/sock etc.? Is there any way to test the drain pump while it is out of the washer to make sure it is bad?
  2. Now that I have the washer apart, if I do replace the drain pump should I also replace the circulation pump, pump casing or any other parts while its disassembled?

Thanks

Mark

While the pump is out ensure the impeller is not broken loose from the shaft, it is not damaged or jammed. Does the drain pump have power to it when it should be draining.

I don’t know how to test that the pump has power to it when it should be draining and the link you sent did not have that in there. I have tried to upload a video from my iphone but you site does not allow mov. When I try and spin the blade it wobbles and gets stuck after a half of a turn both ways.
