LG wm3997hwa drum / motor issue

I have the above listed washer/dryer and this just started having an issue in the last day or two.
When it is in the spin cycle and its attempting to spin the drum up quickly it makes a pretty loud noise, I’m not even sure how to describe it. What i did notice visually in concert with the noise is that the tub was not spinning as fast as the noise.

I took the back cover off and with the power off if I spin the rotor left or right quickly and then try to reverse direction its as if the rotor is spinning independently of the drum. Its as if there is a clutch. This is an inverter direct drive model, so I find it odd that somehow the drum is spinning (reluctantly) independently of the shaft. I took the rotor off and inspected things and nothing seems amiss (that I could actually see). The bolt was tight, the splines are good. Nothing is stripped.

MHW61841102 spider, the shaft spins separate of the spider.
i’ve seen lots of broken spider arm pictures today on the web but i’ve never seen a complaint about the shaft spinning separate of the spider.

has anyone seen or heard of this before?

can anyone find me the part number for the spider of this washer?
it seems like this thing doesn’t exist!
