So today our LG refrigerator just suddenly stopped working. No power at all, display is dead, nothing. It’s an LSXS26326S and is about 8 years old. I pulled the cover off the control board, and there is a noticeable smell of burned electronics, and the fuse on the board is visibly fried. Of course, the fuse is directly soldered into the board. My question is: Will replacing the board likely fix the issue or is there something else I should check before installing a new board? i.e. Is the component that caused the power surge or the short likely the result of the board itself or some other component?

Thank you.

All good questions! There is probably another part that has failed or a power surge has caused that board to fry. I would get s surge protector for the outlet, especially if you have re-occurring issues with the power surging in your area. I cannot say if putting a new board on it will fix it or not, I would hope so.
