Main Symptom: Snapped tabs in Sub Controller Assembly - where the Door Release Button attaches. Need to replace Sub Controller Assembly (or other solution?)
What happens & when: The tabs inside the Sub Controller Assembly (ACM75218802), where the Door Release Button attaches (ABH76119609) have snapped off, so I can’t attach the Door Release Button. It appears I have to replace the entire Sub Controller Assembly (which is an expensive part). Is there any other solution? If I have to replace this part, how complicated is replacing it as a novice?
Error Code (if any):
Parts or tests already tried: Got a new Door Release Button - verified old Button is undamaged.

The tabs on the sub control would only be fixable by replacing the sub controller assembly. Generally speaking, it is not necessarily a difficult repair. With the power cord unplugged, the top and side cover would need to be removed. This will expose a mounting screw on the top back of the console that would need to be removed. This should allow the console to lift up and out. Remove the main control from the sub controller assembly. It should not be necessary to remove the wires. Remove the door release lever from the old assembly and install it onto the new one. Do the same with the original door release button and spring. From there, attach the main control to the new sub controller assembly and secure everything back together. ACM75218802 Controller Assembly, Sub | Genuine Lg OEM In Stock
Thank you! As this part is more than 50% of the cost of a new microwave, I’m trying an alternative approach. A friend of mine has a 3D printer, and is printing a piece to stand in for the tabs. As this is a mechanical piece, I think this will work well. If it does not, I will buy a new microwave. Do you have any concerns with this approach?
I would only be able to suggest that the microwave is monitored during operation since there are many different grades of 3D printer filament. I am not sure if it would create any fumes from the heat in the control section.
