This could be caused by an improper drying cycle. When the dishwasher is in the drying phase, does the fan on the top let side of the door turn on and does it push steam out the bottom of the door?
No steam is pushed out of the bottom of the door. The drip is not inside the dishwasher, but on to the kitchen tile floor directly beneath the dishwasher in about the middle. The dishes seem to dry okay.
It sounds like the vent fan is not operating which is causing the steam to condense in the vent and travel down. This can be caused by a control failure or a fan failure. Also, when the detergent is not being used, is it out on the bottom of the tub or is it stuck in the dispenser? This can help identify if the issues are related or if they are separate.
For the detergent, are there any clogged ports in the spray arms? For the dripping water, if you press the power button, auto button, and start button at the same time, the dishwasher should illuminate every LED to indicate it has entered into a diagnostic mode. Once it has done this, press start two times and close the door. Does the vent fan at the top left of the door turn on? To exit the diagnostic mode, the start button would need to be pressed six more times.
