Hello. I have an LG front load washer, Model WM2688HNMA, which is making a screeching/clunking noise when it rotates. Not just the spin cycle, but any rotation. The drum rotates freely, its just vey noisy.

With the washer empty, try spinning the basket by hand and listen closely. If you hear a noise that sounds like sand or small rocks rolling around, it’s more than likely that the tub bearings are failing. A failing stator can also cause similar symptoms, so that’s another component worth checking if the bearings don’t appear to be the issue. I’ve attached a service manual that explains this in more detail and should help guide you through the diagnosis.
