Brand: LG Model Number: DLE3500W Main Symptom: TE1 error, dryer shuts off after approx 5seconds What happens & when:
Dryer is about 5-6yrs old. Seemed like the dryer was getting very hot and not shutting off even when clothes were already dry. Eventually I got the TE1 error. I replaced the thermistor, thermal fuse, hi limit thermostat, blower thermostat, and the 2 moisture sensor bars. Still getting the same error. I then replaced the control board and continue to get the same TE1 error and dryer shutting off after about 5seconds.
Update…confirmed continuity from the thermistor to the wiring harness plugging into the control board. Also confirmed 13k ohm of the thermistor both at the thermistor and at the control board harness. Just in case there was a damaged wire susceptible to vibrations somewhere along the path, I ran 2 brand new wires from the thermistor to the control board harness and re-confirmed continuity and Ohm readings.
Still shutting off after about 5sec with the TE1 error code.
After recognizing there was an anomaly when none of the replacement parts fixed the issue, I decided to do some further testing and try my luck on a second replacement board. Turns out the 1st replacement board was faulty. The 2nd board fixed my issue. With that said, I’d like to give a huge shout out to myself for the encouragement, perseverance, and for paying attention in college physics all those years ago. I appreciate my replies, because without me helping me work through this repair, I would have ended up spending another $1k on a new dryer.
