Lg combo washer/dryer wm3677hw no water coming out of jets in fins

Brand: LG
Model Number: WM3677HW
Main Symptom: NO WATER OUT OF “JETS” IN FINS
What happens & when: WHEN I RUN A CYCLE , NO WATER COMES OUT OF THE JETS

Error Code (if any): NONE
Parts or tests already tried: DRAIN PUMP
Photos / video link:

I had an issue with machine not drawing. Quick fix with a $60 drain pump and watching the links you had to you-tube video …

After I got drain issue resolved , I ran 3 cycles with “AFresh” thru machine (it had never been “cleaned” and that did an amazing job (highly recommend !!).

But .. I noticed there was no water shooting out the “jets” in the fins…

Even tried a cycle (no clothes) with just a little detergent..

But still saw now water or “suds” shooting out from “jets” (as I imagine it should)..

Does this sounds like a recirculating pump ?

I did see on this site (I believe) that someone used a “drain pump” in place of a circulating pump.

Is this a possibility ?

Drain pump is $60 on here , recirculating pump is $120.

And drain pump looks very similar, same size , but a little bigger (“coil” ??) possibly indicating a more robust motor/pump ?

I want to know if this sounds like the recirculating pump and if the drain pump is “interchangeable” (as someone posted on here) ?

Thank You for your help in bringing this great older machine “back to life” !!

APForumFixitRight,

This unit does not have water that sprays out of the baffles on the washer. The recirculation pump will allow water to circulate back up to the bellow and does not disperse to the baffles or fins as you stated.

But I do see “holes” in the fins (baffles ??) so what are they for ?

And like I said , I replaced the drain pump and it’s draining fine now

On the very same housing (opposite the drain pump on housing) it has a “recirculating pump” (that I ordered but have NOT installed yet).

If recirculating pump does not shoot water out of the baffles , then exactly what does it do ?

I mean the machine (seems) to work (well ??) now , and what are signs of bad recirculating pump and what benefits would I see in replacing it if it is bad ?

I have attached some pics of the “fins” (baffles) , and as you can see , they DO have “spiraled” holes and roller balls in the baffles ..

I have also read somewhere online that this machine (does) shoot water out of the baffles to “boost cleaning power”..

(Bear in mind , this was a $1700 machine , about 15 years ago !!).

Do you see the holes in the baffles ?

If they do NOT shoot out water , WHAT is their purpose ?

And again , when machine is running , I see no water (or soap suds) shooting out , with an empty load running (no clothes , just soap and water)…

Would replacing the circulating pump solve this ??

The ports on this will not be for water jets. If anything they would be for air flow during the drying process. In order to have water jets it would have to have water tubes connected but because of the rotation of the drum this is not possible.

Makes sense (I guess) about the rotation and water coming out of the jets.

But wouldn’t the airflow for drying (Which I rarely use) just come out of the tub (holes) ?

Also , as I mentioned, I replaced the drain pump and it’s working fine now.

I returned some parts I did not need and got refunded (Thank You on your “generous” 365 day return policy !!).

I did KEEP a recirculating pump which I have not installed yet (thinking if drain pump went after 15 years of “SOLID SERVICE”) that recirculating pump is either bad , or will “go in the not so distant future”…

How can I determine if recirculating pump NEEDS replaced (hopefully WITHOUT having to DISASSEMBLE machine) ??

Airflow will come out of the baffle and through the holes in the drum as well.
