Parts or tests already tried: kick plate off, started cycle and when pump starts, after maybe a minute, water drips from the round hole in the bottom of the diverter motor. pulled DW out and noticed moisture inside that hole. trying to figure out if I need a diverter motor, a motor to pump seal, or a sump assembly. am I on the right track?

The water leak is going to be caused by the diverter seal in the sump. Unfortunately, it is only available as a part of the sump. However, a leak at that spot can potentially cause damage to the diverter motor since the leaking water can accumulate on the motor itself. If this happens, the diverter motor would need to be replaced as well. Here are links to each, as well as a link to the entire circulation pump and sump assembly for comparison.
