KitchenAid Under Counter Ice Maker - Little Ice Being Made

I’ve got a KitchenAid Superba Under Counter Ice Maker (Model No KUIS15NRHW6) and it has recently been struggling making ice. We do get some ice, and some days are better than others, but often times, there is little ice in the machine and the ice that is there is very wet.

I took the machine apart and cleaned all the fittings. I noticed that sheets of ice were getting stuck on the melting/cutting wires due to some calcium buildup. After cleaning that off, the machine still seems to have problems.

Tonight when I opened it, there was a thin sheet of ice on the cutter wires, but it seemed to be melting rather than being cut.

Is the temp in the machine to warm? Are the cutter wires not heating the ice fast enough?

I’m very new to appliance repair, but can handle DIY projects, so any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello - I have the exact same problem as Brendo234 with my ice maker and have taken similar steps to correct the problem. My ice maker is 9 years old and was installed by the prior owner of my home. It worked well until last summer/fall and then started producing less ice (and wet ice) until it stopped producing ice altogether. There was a large build up of dirt on the condenser coils, and after cleaning them, the ice maker is producing some ice but not much, and it’s very wet. I’m also hoping I can achieve a DIY repair, as it appears the unit overall is functioning and hopefully only needs a minor adjustment, cleaning or part replacement somewhere. Thanks for any help!
