KitchenAid Trash Compactor Model #KUCC151JBS0. After you hear it crushing the trash, it starts making an extremely loud banging, vibrating noise that does not stop and I need to turn it off. I can’t see anything stuck inside on the top. Please help. Thank you.

I have the same problem, same model..
synderella and rromero4860,
Most likely the problem with your trash compactors is a bad push button switch on the control panel.
In order to provide the right part number I need the color of the control panel.

Similar problem the ram is not stopping at the top just oscillatiing up and down. Motor switch is good mometary switch was bad and replaced. When ever safety switch is activated ram moves and switch glows with alot of juice. Have not tested limit switch yet. any ideas
Make sure the rotary “start-run” switch is not in the Start position constantly. If the return spring inside this switch is broken then the switch has to be replaced.
- The part number for the start-run switch is AP3180525

I had the same problem. Turn it on, and close the drawer and it starts compressing. It cycles to the bottom and then up and starts banging as soon as it reaches the top. Found that it can be 2 problems: the top limit switch (take the top off and you can see it activate when the ram reaches the top) or the on/off push button switch is defective. The push button switch (sometimes call the off/off, temporary switch) was defective on mine. I called a local repair parts store and went down to buy both parts (total was 140 dollars!!!). I figured it was the push button switch. So, I decided to give repairing the switch a try. I took it out (you have to remove the frame that holds the switch to take it out without damaging the switch. Then popped the 5 plastic latches that held the switch in place. Found that the contact pieces were dirty and reassembled the switch and it works like a charm. Saved myself 70 bucks, for now at least. The switch was stuck at ON and was confusing the control panel.

Starts compacting and then has a loud baning noise and will not stop.
What do you recommend?
The first thing I’ll do is check the start switch (#14 on the diagram).

Thanks.
That was it.
I cleaned it and now it works.
What would you recommend as routine maintenance (cleaing and lube)?
