KitchenAid KGRS807 - Err F6 E0 Lost Communications Err

This oven was delivered 1/15/2008

Recently this oven would pop up with the error code:
Err F6 E0 Lost Communications

Turning the breaker on and off would temporarily fix the problem. The problem has gotten progressively worse and now shows up about 5 minutes after reset.

I replaced the oven control board but not the display/touchscreen set. Still doesn’t work same error.

My voltages to the display/touchscreen from the transformer are 33v,12.6v,6.4v(3.2v-3.2v)

After a successful reset I can use the diagnostic mode (off, off,on) and test all the components and everything works ! After exiting the diagnostic mode and setting the clock it’s OK. Then errors out again after some time.

The display/touchscreen doesn’t always reset right away if I unplug/plug or switch breaker on/off could this be an indicator ?

Should I try and replace the display/touchscreen board or is there another problem ??

I can return my control board correct ?

Thanks in advance

I’m afraid I did not get clear which part did you replace? Can you refer to the numbers on the diagram?

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL KGRS807SSS00 30" Freestanding Gas Oven Convection | AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is the Tech sheet.

I first replaced 9762774 (Control Board)
Tech sheet says if this doesn’t work
replace 9762794 (Display/Touch Control Board)

Have you checked the wiring harness as suggested in the Tech sheet?

If it tested OK, then replace the user interface/display board, but keep the new control board installed. If it will solve the problem, then try to put the old control board back to see how it’ll work.

In order to return any part you have to contact the APP customer service.

I received the UI board today and swapped it out, I am also using my original power board. Its been running trouble free for about 3 hours and I’m not surprised. The colors on the display are much clearer and brighter and I cannot see the grid of the VFD display. I am also not surprised about this. After removing the UI board I unsnapped and folded back the top half of the board set only to find corrosion from a faulty solder process rinse. some of the small surface mount parts are completely encased in corrosion. Looks like whatever was used to clean the board after the ribbon cable was soldered to the board, did not rinse fully and caused the corrosion to form. There is no evidence that anything entered the stove and dripped on the board. The Clear plastic housing is perfectly clean. I wonder if Whirpool will cover this since it is the touch controller board ? Isn’t there a 3 year wty on those parts ?
Thanks fore your help and input Gene.

Unfortunately the warranty on all parts by ALL manufacturers is only one year.

I’m glad you were able to fix it.
