Parts or tests already tried: Have tried 3 WPW10116216 replacement boards (order# 17165477)

Have tried 3 replacement control boards and all 3 stay in programming mode (displays flashing PE and 000 where the code 01 should be) when power is restored. The overlay keypad buttons does not seem to work or change any values. I have ensured both the ribbon cable and power cable are secured in place and have tried several times of shutting the power off for 10 minutes intervals with no impact or success. Have also reviewed and tried the programming instructions to place the control board in programming mode and exit programming mode but the overlay buttons do not respond even holding them for 15 seconds. Hoping you can help provide some insights. Thanks

Allen

For some reason it isn’t taking the programing.

Within 5 seconds press and hold door alarm key

as soon as its held down press and hold freezer temperature down

as soon as that is held down release door alarm key

control should indicate PE

release and then press the freezer temperature down key one more time

It should show 00

using refrigerator up and down keys

to change value of each digit while using the freezer temperature up to change which digit is selected

once proper program number is set press and hold freezer temperature down until number begin to flash

Fridge should start working

Hi Jeffrey,

The display already is displaying PE when the power is restored to the fridge. I have tried using the keys like you have suggested, however, there is no response or changes and the board keeps flashing PE. I have also tried exiting by pressing the Door Alarm key for several seconds and still no response.

You are having a communication issue with the control board overlay. Is the ribbon cable plugged in properly? At this point after 3 boards I’d try to find a board overlay ( Whirlpool WPW10317133 Refrigerator Overlay | Genuine OEM Part )

Yes, I have checked the ribbon cable each time

Any suggestions on where to find a replacement Overlay? The mfg states it is no longer available. Would another overly from a different model work? I found this one on your site and it looks very similar Whirlpool WPW10317125. Your thoughts?

I would say no. Different models have different programming, I would do an internet search for 3rd party vendors
