KitchenAid kebc276kbl04

I have a kitchenaid KEBC276KBL04 double wall oven that is not cooking correctly. Items burn on top but are raw in the center, some times they burn on the bottom but still raw or under cooked in the center.

We tried to adjust the oven temperature settings to match our test thermometer but that has not helped.

I did have a service company come out; they tested the oven temperature and the oven produced a reasonable 350 degrees (by reasonable I mean there were differences at each side top bottom and back of the oven using their thermal thermometer, but the tech thought that the temps were with in acceptable limits). The tech thought that our test thermometer placed in the center of the oven was fairly accurate as measured with his thermal scanner. The tech thought we may have an intermittent problem and left stating he would check the repair books and get back to us. They called with an estimate to replace the control panel for $450 with no guarantee that it would solve the problem.

I later tried to bring the upper oven up to 450 and the oven struggled to get there taking 20 minutes to get to 425 and never getting to 450 even though the preheat indicator indicated that the oven was at 450.

The broil element works, and the concealed bake element is working also in both upper and lower ovens..

Both upper and lower ovens do not cook well.

We are not getting any error codes.

I did some Internet searches on this model and found a few people talking about problems after self cleaning the oven. This oven was self cleaned before we moved in, and 2 to 3 times since we have owned it.

I did open the unit up to look at the control panel, I did not see or smell any burnt electronics, or loose wires, etc.

I did not reset any ribbon cables as the touch pad seems to be working fine.

Do you think it may be a problem with the control panel? If so am I looking for the Whirlpool part AP3605923? There looks to be four parts to the control panel assembly: the outer metal cover, the color matched membrane switch or touch pad, the control module, and the self cleaning control module.

It sounds more likely to be your temperature sensors. How does it respond to broiler settings?

I will test it now, can you suggest some test parameters?

I also forgot to mention that occasionally the indicator on the touchpad for the upper oven elements switches between ecnomomy mode and maxi (using only the smaller broil element vs using both small and large broil elements).

I have the following sensor test results:

Top oven sensor resistance 1070 ohms at room temprature 63 degrees
Bottom oven sensor resistance 1070 ohms at room temprature 63 degrees

Broil temprature test start at 12:45PM set to maxi broil (both top oven broil elements) with temprature guage set in center of oven

12:45 start
12:56 300 degrees
1:07 425 degrees
1:15 450 degrees
1:27 475 degrees
1:35 485 degrees
1:35 end test

It sounds like your sensors are Ok; but the self-switching between economy modes suggests a control board problem.

Ok, I will try to order the Control Panel. Can you confirm that it is Whirlpool part number 8302306 or Appliance Parts Pro AP3605923.

thanks for your help
