Brand:Kitchenaid Model Number:KUIX535HPS Main Symptom:melting ice What happens & when: produces ice but seems like maybe inside isn’t cold enough as pump has to run frequently to pump water into the drain from the ice melting inside unit. What should the internal temp be and is there a way to make it colder.

The ice production mode should stop once the bin thermistor identifies the internal temperature being less than 37 degrees. As the internal temperature is reliant on the ice produced, there would not be a way of making the internal temperature colder than the ice can make it. However, if the external drain pump is operating more than normal, the door seal can be inspected to identify if there is an air leak. A dollar bill or equally sized paper can be placed between the door gasket and the ice compartment. With the door closed, slowly pull the dollar/paper out and repeat this process across the entire gasket.
