Kitchenaid dishwasher will not start and makes humming noise

My Kitchenaid dishwasher will not run and it makes a humming noise when the cycle should be starting.

First I would check that the motor armature turns manually (nothing jammed in the impeller or chopper).

Next would be to check the motor windings with a meter.

Then check that the motor gets 120 volts when it should.
