Kitchenaid Dishwasher Stops Midcycle

My dishwasher is stopping mid-cycle, about 10 minutes in, with all the lights off. I can restart it, but it stops again.

It fails in this way in ProWash mode, but will run all the way in 1-Hour-Wash mode.

Entering diagnostic mode, I get the error code 6-1.

Guessing it was the control board, I contacted KitchenAid and they sent me a new one under warranty. I replaced the board. The first load through worked fine. Woo-hoo! But, then the second load stopped mid-cycle, still with diagnostic code 6-1.

Could the new board also be bad? What else can I try?

Maybe the water temp in that cycle isn’t getting hot enough to satisfy the machine.
Does the heating element get hot enough during the cycle?

I doubt that the new board is bad.
Too much of a coincidence that it would give the same error.

See the attachment for the tech sheet.

Also check the other possibilities under the 6 function.

Check that the unit is draining correctly.

Check the overfill float switch. It should always be activated (closed) as it is just an overfill safety device.

Turns out the screen of the fill valve became partially clogged with sediment. I replaced the valve and all is good. I may have been able to clean out the screen with the same result.

I was having a similar problem. Then about 2 weeks later my water heater gave out. Once I got it replaced, the dishwasher worked fine. It had something to do with the water temperature - so just wanted to pass that along.
