KitchenAid can't start cycle

This problem has been intermittent but it’s back! You can select the different cycles on the touch panel but when you press Start nothing happens. The cycle’s LED is still lit up but nothing. When it is operating correctly once you hit start the LED will start blinking until you close the door.

So I’ve read the forums but can’t find an answer to figure out which part I need or how to diagnose the problem further. It seems it’s either the user interface, the ribbon cable connecting to the electronic control assembly or the electronic assembly itself. Any ideas?

And then if it is one of them how do I open up the panel? Thanks in advance for any help.

Anyone out there? If the answer is you have to shotgun and replace each part that’s ok just would like to hear from someone that repairs for a living. Also if you could help on how to open the door and get to the parts that would be great!

often times the use interface(control panel wit an active overlay can get internal corrosion. the first thing would be to look closely at the other leds when it is not working properly. see if any of the other leds are dimly glowing. if so then you need a new user interface.
