Our kitchenaid oven was working great until my wife used the self-clean function. It also worked perfectly except that now the oven has power and displays etc. and the fan runs & light comes on but the oven does not heat regardless of what function we select. When we select a function the display comes on with the temp display etc but then the display changes to a LO setting and just stays on - but no heating in the oven.
Appreciate some help if anyone has any to offer. Thanks in advance.
If you look at the tech sheet wiring diagram you will see a thermal fuse (Squiggly line) in the L2 circuit that feeds the elements.
Odds are that the fuse (Item 37 in Section 4 of the parts) blew during self clean.
Be sure to remove power from the unit when working on it.
The fuse should measure 0 ohms. KEBC107.pdf (306.9 KB)
Thank you so much for your rapid reply. It is very much appreciated. I do have a couple more questions though.
We do not have the instalation or owners manuals for this oven. The only thing we do have is the 6 page diagnostics info you just sent, which is very helpful.
Since it is a buily-in oven I’ll have to slide it partially out of the cabinet and don’t find any assembly screws in the ss frame that are holding it in place etc.
Do you know where I can get an instalation & owners manual and parts list?
When removing the oven to test the fuse (on top of the oven) is it a 1 man job or do I need the 2nd pair of hands etc? Again I thank you. Calabashman
Here is where you can get the manuals. http://www.whirlpool.com/
Go to the “Owners Center”, then “Manuals & Literature” and just enter in your model number.
Always a good idea to have some help when pulling a built in oven.
In case my link does not work the manual is on Page 6 of “Service Repair Manuals for Cooking Products” under the ServiceManuals heading.
It is KAC 50.
Ther is also a KAC 28 for single ovens.
