I have a Kitchen Aid Superba dishwasher that will sometimes get “stuck” and not run the drain cycle. The water is just sitting in the bottom of the basin.
I found by googling around that I could manually kick off the drain cycle by pressing ‘start’ and ‘cancel’ together on the control panel. When I do this is starts up a 2-minute drain cycle that seems to work fine. I can hear and see the water draining into the garbage disposal. It finishes draining in about 1.5 minutes.
Usually after I do that it will drain itself for the next few runs, but eventually it’ll stop draining again and it won’t self-drain until I manually drain it.
I’ve ensured that the garbage disposal is clear and free of debris. The line is clear as well, and has no kinks, although I haven’t yet pulled the washer out of the cupboard to see behind it.
The paperwork indicates it was installed in December 2002. I’ve only owned the house for a little over three years.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
