Hello -

Wondering if the issue is more than just a cracked planetary? What other replacement parts do I need aside from just the planetary part? How do I determine what may have caused the planetary to crack?

Hi, I’d check a few other things while you have it apart. If the planetary cracked, check the worm gear for stripped or damaged teeth.

You’ll also want to replace the gearbox gasket, clean out all the old grease, and repack it with fresh food-grade grease.

Also check the shaft pin, snap rings, and lower gear housing for any damage or cracks. Since you already have it apart, it’s better to catch anything else now.
